Utah Firearms Freedom Act

By Margaret Dayton

Courageous legislators, in 2010, helped me pass the Utah Firearms Freedom Act.  This bill was not about guns, it was about forcing the federal courts to consider how far the federal government has wandered from the simple limitations embodied in the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.  This is the speech I gave on the Senate Floor.

Immigration

By Margaret Dayton

In late September, 2010, the Lt. Governor and a group of concerned legislators (including me) visited Arizona to learn from their struggles with illegal immigration.  The experience was eye-opening.

Representative Sandstrom has written a bill designed to help Utah begin to solve immigration problems.  I am the Senate sponsor.   Here is the draft made available in August.  It has been edited and improved since then, but you can still see the intent.  Please let me know what you think.
