Margaret Dayton has been a tireless and remarkably
effective legislator in the Utah State Legislature since 1996. She is admired and respected
by her fellow legislators, and warmly-appreciated by her constituents
Proactive and articulate when performing tasks that require her public presence, Margaret
works equally well and effectively behind the scenes. She is not a person whose ego
requires public exposure.
Margaret has achieved a reputation for effectiveness in many facets of the legislature.
She is most recently noted, however, for her work in Utah education reform, especially for being one of the first legislators in the nation to stand up against the unfair and
unreasonable federal regulations posed by the No Child Left Behind Act.
In addition to her activities as a state legislator, Margaret--who was a Registered Nurse--is a capable musician (piano and organ), and particularly enjoys cooking.
